FAQ

What is a pantun?

A pantun is a traditional Malay four-line poem with an ABAB rhyme scheme. Lines 1 and 2 (pembayang) use nature or everyday imagery to set the scene; lines 3 and 4 (maksud) deliver the actual message. UNESCO inscribed pantun on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020.

How does a pantun rhyme?

ABAB. The last word of line 1 rhymes with the last word of line 3 (rhyme A). The last word of line 2 rhymes with the last word of line 4 (rhyme B).

How many syllables per line?

Typically 8 to 12 syllables per line. Lines are roughly equal in length and read as natural Bahasa Melayu.

What is the difference between pembayang and maksud?

Pembayang (lines 1–2) is the foreshadow — concrete imagery from nature, food, or daily life. Maksud (lines 3–4) is the meaning — the actual message about love, friendship, wisdom, or humour.

How does this generator work?

It calls two large language models in parallel (e.g. Llama 3.3 70B and Qwen 3 235B) with a strict ABAB rhyme prompt, then validates the output server-side. If the rhyme fails, the model retries once.

Is this tool free?

Yes, the Malaysia4U pantun generator is free to use. AI output may contain errors — always cross-check with a fluent Bahasa Melayu speaker for important uses.
